
Rob Fruithof
4th of October 1951 - August 25, 2023
Fruithof was a Dutch (voice) actor and host. He was born in Bussum and died in Capetown, South Africa.
He studied at the stage academy of Maastricht, after he graduated in 1975 Rob became a member of Stage Group Theatre in Arnhem.
Fruithof played in many plays such as Tafel van Tien, Gedeelde Liefde, halve liefde, and Hello and Goodbye. Rob also had a couple of supporting roles in tv-series such as Nieuwe Buren, and Dagboek van een herdershond.
Rob really got famous in the Netherlands due to his role as host in tv-show Waku Waku. A game on the television about animals with other famous Dutch people who answered questions. He was the host on this show between 1988-1996.
Fruithof stayed active in acting jobs. With his then girlfriend Janke Dekker he played in the musical Up on the Roof. He also became a known voice is different Dutch commercials such as the ones from OHRA, Tefal, and Bolletje.
Rob got with a later partner a son. In 2004 the family moved to South-Africa. There he regularly played in commercials, and even some films. In 2011 he played in the South-African/American film Sniper: Reloaded, and he played in one episode of the third season of the American tv-show Black Sails.
Rob died aged 71 due to cancer on the 25th of August 2023.
