Louis de Bree

27th of April, 1884 - 4th of May, 1971

Louis Christiaan Davids was a Dutch theatre actor, and radio play actor. He was born in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. His father was Izaak David Davids, and his mother Anna Poolman. To stop confusing people with the cabaret actor Louis Davids, Louis came up with the name de Bree.

De Bree was first working in the diamondindustry before he switched to theatre in 1907. Comical roles, where more his thing, and he led many theatrecompagnies. Such as De Kluchtspelers, Het Vroolijk Toneel, De Speeldoos, De Komedianten en Cabaret de Carousel. De Bree also directed many plays he did this with Het Nederlandsch Tooneel, het Gemeentelijk Theaterbedrijf, Het Nederlandsch-Indisch Tooneel en het Gezelschap Guus Oster.

In 1950 de Bree switched to a group of radioplays actors who worked voor the Dutch Radio Union, he stayed with them until 1967.

De Bree was married two times. The first time was with actrice Annie Bakker in 1922. Later he married actrice Myra Ward from 1941 - 1949.
