Bill van Dijk

22nd of December 1947

Willem Edsger (Bill) van Dijk is a Dutch singer, actor, and musicalactor. He was born in Rotterdam, South-Holland.

Bill finished his studies at the Theatreschool in Amsterdam, and at the famous Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. 

​

Van Dijk started his musical career in a internation production of Hair as Claude. He played in many musicals from there on out. In the Netherlands, but also on the West End. He was the first Dutch musicalartist that was asked to be in a West End Musical: Let My People Come. His first big through here in the Netherlands was when he played the role of Enjolras in the first Dutch production of Les Miserables in 1991. His international breakthrough came with his role as Cyrano de Bergerac in the musical Cyrano. Bill also played this role on Broadway. He also starred in Evita, Miss Saigon, and Little Shop of Horrors. Later in his career he played the role of the Wizard in Wicked back in 2011 - 2012.

Van Dijk also played in a couple of films. Blue Movie, Daniël, Lieve Jongens & Hoge Hakken, Echte Liefde. 

​

Bill also was our contribution at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982. He sang his song Jij en Ik. Unfortunately it wasn't our best result as we came 16/18 with only 8 points.

Another famous role of Bill outside of Disney is Derek in the Swan Princess.
