Bernadette Kraakman

Bernadette Kraakman was born in Amsterdam. Already early in her childhood she discovered music, she was a part of childrens choir De Damrakkertjes for six years. Kraakman earned her stripes when she became a part of the disco/funk Fat Eddy Band. With this band she made the singles Sweet sweet lovin' (1979), Let your body move it (1981), Don't let it fade (1982), and Good Times (1982). Only Let your body move it became a small hit.

Bernadette got known by a big audience when she participated in 1983 in the Nationaal Songfestival. The Dutch pre-selection that is chosing a song to participate at Eurovision for the Netherlands. Kraakman won this pre-selection with Sing Me Song. She represented the Netherlands in Eurovision 1983 in Munich, and reached 7th place.
After this Kraakman wasn't that popular anymore, and the songs she brought out after, didn't became hits.
Bernadette tried her luck in auditioning for the Amsterdam Conservatory, and got in, but after two years she departed to the United States to follow the International School of Aerobic Training. Kraakman eventually opened her own Fitness Center in Laren. In 1999 Bernadette emigrated to Canada. In Kamloops (British Colombia) she ran a pancake restaurant for 15 years, together with her husband.
